Strict action will be taken against tobacco products sellers near educational institutions : ADC

Gurugram, March 25 : ADC Hitesh Kumar Meena said that there is a ban on the sale of tobacco products within a radius of 100 meters of any educational institution. Strict legal action will be taken against those selling bidi, cigarette or other tobacco products near schools-colleges or other educational institutions. He gave this direction while addressing the meeting of the district level committee constituted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat on Tuesday.

The ADC said that if drug consumption or smuggling is taking place near schools, then any person can inform the police about it. He said that the report of all the FIRs registered under this campaign and what action has been taken on those FIRs should be uploaded on the Prahari app. Along with this, he instructed the officials to show him this report in the review meeting held every three months. Apart from this, he said that the school wise teams formed should also prepare a report in which how many children have been seen doing drugs and whether they have been counseled or not. A complete report should be prepared and shown. The institutes and hospitals which are providing services related to de-addiction should be inspected by the committee and their report should be sent to us.

Hitesh Kumar Meena said that the aim of the de-addiction campaign is to stop the trend of drug addiction in the district and make people aware of its ill effects. Drug addiction is spreading rapidly among the youth, which can prove to be dangerous for their health and future. Under this campaign, awareness programs are being organized in schools, colleges, villages and urban areas. Apart from this, people are being told about ways to identify drug addiction and avoid it. The government is also setting up help centers for the treatment of drug addiction, so that people struggling with drug addiction can get treatment. He also appealed to all the citizens to cooperate in this campaign, so that the welfare of every person can be ensured by making the district drug free.

ACP Lalit, District Social Welfare Officer Sarfaraz Khan, WCDPO Mrs. Munish, ASMO Civil Hospital Ajay, Balwan Singh, Sunil Sharma, Karamjit, Mahabir Singh, Satish Malhan were present in the meeting.
