Work Begins to Deepen Tangri River by Six Feet : Anil Vij

Chandigarh, March 25 : Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij said that the work to deepen the Tangri River bed by six feet in Ambala Cantonment has begun, It will be beneficial for thousands of residents in the surrounding colonies. He said that the sand excavated from the Tangri River in Ambala Cantonment will be utilized in the Ambala Ring Road project under the National Highway Authority. Additionally, the Tangri River embankment will be strengthened and elevated up to Jagadhri Road at a cost of ₹2.67 crores.

Sh.Vij further explained that deepening the riverbed will prevent water overflow during the monsoon season.

He added that an MoU was signed between the Irrigation Department, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the Ambala Sadar Municipal Council for this project, ensuring that the extracted sand from the riverbed will be used in the ongoing Ambala Ring Road project. By deepening the riverbed, water will drain smoothly during the rainy season, providing protection to thousands of residents in dozens of nearby colonies. He assured that this work will be completed before the monsoon.

Narrow Sections of Tangri River to Be Widened- Vij

Energy and Transport Minister Anil Vij said that the narrow sections of the Tangri River in Ambala Cantonment will be widened to ensure an uninterrupted flow of rainwater. He mentioned that instructions have been given to the irrigation department, and a proposal has been sent to the government for approval, with work expected to commence soon.

Strengthening and Elevating the Tangri Dam Towards Rampur-Sarsehri in Progress-Vij

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij said that the work to strengthen and elevate the Tangri River embankment towards Rampur-Sarsehri is progressing. The Tangri embankment will be reinforced and elevated up to Jagadhri Road at a cost of ₹2.67 crore. This project, which began in February, is being expedited to ensure completion before the monsoon season.

Elevated Embankment and Deeper Riverbed to Provide Major Benefits-Vij

Sh. Anil Vij highlighted that while work was already underway to elevate and strengthen the Tangri Dam towards Rampur-Sarsehri, the process of deepening the riverbed by six feet has now started. This will prevent rainwater from overflowing the embankment, ensuring safety for the residents.

Tangri Dam Road to Be Connected to GT Road Soon-Vij

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij announced that the Tangri Dam Road will soon be connected to GT Road via Ghasitpur Railway Crossing. This new road will benefit residents of Shahpur, Machhaunda, Ghasitpur, Sector 32-34, and those traveling to the new grain market on GT Road, making their commute easier and more convenient. The project is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Tangri Dam Road Widening in Progress-Vij

Energy and Transport Minister Anil Vij informed that the widening of Tangri Dam Road is currently in progress. The road will be widened by six feet, improving convenience for drivers. Additionally, streetlights will be installed along the widened road, with work already initiated from the Mahesh Nagar Pump House side.
