New Delhi : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated the 9th two-day National Security Strategies Conference-2026 (NSSC) in New Delhi, bringing together senior government officials, security leadership, young police officers and domain experts to deliberate on key national security challenges.
Before inaugurating the conference, Shri Amit Shah paid homage at the Martyrs’ Column, laying a wreath in memory of the brave personnel of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while safeguarding the nation’s security and integrity.
The conference is being held in a hybrid format and is being attended by more than 850 participants from across the country. The Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Union Home Secretary, Deputy National Security Advisers, and Heads of the Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organisations attended the conference in New Delhi.
Directors General of Police of States and Union Territories, young police officers working at the cutting-edge level and experts from specialised fields joined the deliberations virtually.
On the first day, discussions focused on several critical aspects of national security, including counter-terrorism challenges, intelligence fusion, analysis and operationalisation through the Multi Agency Centre (MAC), a vision document on narcotics control, detection and deportation of illegal migrants, a policy framework to combat cybercrime, and proxy warfare by Pakistan.
Emphasising the need for a more effective response to terrorism and radicalisation, the Union Home Minister stressed the importance of training personnel for the implementation of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ PRAHAAR scheme. He also called for expediting trials by bringing back fugitives and effectively using provisions for trial in absentia.
Shri Amit Shah further emphasised the need for a comprehensive and integrated approach while investigating cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The Home Minister directed that an Artificial Intelligence-based analysis of information available on the MAC platforms should be undertaken to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for effectively responding to various national security challenges.
He also directed all security and enforcement agencies to take strict measures against infiltration.
The second day of the conference will focus on emerging and future security challenges, including the threat posed by sub-aerial systems and the formulation of countermeasures, securing the blue economy, information warfare and its implications for national security, and the need for a comprehensive bio-security framework.
The National Security Strategies Conference has been organised annually in a hybrid format since 2021, following the directions of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The conference aims to find practical solutions to major national security challenges by combining the extensive grassroots experience of officers working at the cutting edge with the expertise of specialists from various fields.
