Chief Minister Haryana honours 411 young achievers at Samrasta Sammelan and Pratibha Samman Samaroh in Bawal; announces Rs. 31 lakh grant for Meghwal Utthan Samiti
Rewari : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that social harmony is not a one-day occasion but a way of life and a value that should be practised throughout one’s lifetime.
Addressing the Samrasta Sammelan and Pratibha Samman Samaroh, organised by the Meghwal Utthan Samiti in the Bawal Assembly constituency of Rewari district, the Chief Minister said that the essence of social harmony lies not in erasing individual identities, but in strengthening the unity of society and the nation while ensuring equal respect and dignity for every identity.
Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas,” Saini said the Haryana Government is working continuously to achieve the goal of Antyodaya and ensure that the benefits of development reach those standing at the last rung of society first.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister honoured 411 young achievers from the Meghwal community for their accomplishments in education, medicine, engineering, sports and other fields.
Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Bawal MLA Dr. Krishan Kumar, Rewari MLA Laxman Yadav, Kosli MLA Anil Yadav, and members of the organising committee were among those present.
Inspiration from Social Reformers
The Chief Minister said that Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji envisioned a society free from discrimination, fear and injustice. He recalled the contributions of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Mata Savitribai Phule, who challenged social orthodoxy and made significant efforts to expand access to education, particularly for women.
Saini also highlighted the contribution of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who regarded education as a powerful instrument of social transformation and fought for the rights and equal opportunities of deprived sections.
“Though these great personalities may have followed different paths, their ultimate goal was the same—knowledge, dignity, equality and equal opportunities for every individual,” he said.
Government Ensuring Financial Constraints Do Not Hold Back Talent
The Chief Minister said the state government is making efforts to ensure that financial difficulties do not become a barrier to the dreams and aspirations of talented children.
He said free coaching for competitive examinations is being provided to Scheduled Caste students whose annual family income is up to Rs. 2.50 lakh. Under the Dr. Ambedkar Meritorious Students Scholarship Scheme, annual scholarships ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000 are being provided. Post-matric students are also receiving educational allowances ranging from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 13,500, along with mandatory fee support.
Students of Classes 9 and 10 are being provided an annual scholarship of Rs. 3,500, while hostel residents receive Rs. 7,000 annually. He said 9,090 students have been provided free bicycles at a cost of Rs. 3 crore, while 4.02 lakh students of Classes 1 to 8 have received incentive assistance amounting to Rs. 44.18 crore.
Under Mission Buniyaad, around 400 children received digital coaching, with 272 students securing admission to institutions such as the IITs and 61 qualifying for NEET, he said.
“When talented youth are given the right platform, they are bound to prove their potential,” the Chief Minister said.
Focus on Education, Healthcare and Self-Reliance
Saini said the government’s objective is not limited to providing financial assistance to needy sections, but to empower them to become self-reliant while living with dignity.
Under the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, Scheduled Caste families are provided Rs. 71,000 for the marriage of their daughters. Over the past 11 years, around Rs. 1,200 crore has been distributed under the scheme, he said.
The Chief Minister further said that during the last 18 months, Rs. 2,042 crore has been transferred into the accounts of 10 lakh women under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana. He added that the registration portal for expanding the scheme would open in September, enabling eligible women from families with an annual income of up to Rs. 1.80 lakh to apply.
Under another scheme, poor families are being provided LPG cylinders for mothers and sisters at Rs. 500, with around Rs. 300 crore transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts so far, he said.
CM Announces Rs. 31 Lakh Grant for Meghwal Utthan Samiti
The Chief Minister accepted the 10 demands submitted by the Meghwal Utthan Samiti and said they would be forwarded to the respective departments for necessary action and approval.
Regarding the demand for the construction of Dharamshalas in Rewari and Bawal, Saini said that once the committee identifies suitable locations, the government would initiate the process of making land available in accordance with the prescribed rules.
He also said the government has set a target of establishing libraries in every panchayat. Around 1,000 libraries have already been opened across Haryana, and the initiative would gradually be expanded to villages across the state to help students prepare for their studies and competitive examinations without having to travel long distances.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs. 31 lakh for the Meghwal Utthan Samiti.
Ahirwal Region Has Witnessed Major Development: Rao Narbir Singh
Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said the development landscape of the Ahirwal region has undergone significant transformation since 2014.
He said that while there were earlier complaints about development and employment opportunities being concentrated in select areas, the BJP government had accelerated balanced development across Haryana in line with the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.”
He said the Ahirwal region has witnessed substantial improvement in roads, employment opportunities and other infrastructure and development works.
Praising Chief Minister Saini, Rao Narbir Singh described him as simple, humble and approachable, adding that despite his busy schedule, the Chief Minister remains accessible to people and makes efforts to listen to and address their concerns.
Government Working Towards a Harmonious Society: Dr. Krishan Kumar
Bawal MLA Dr. Krishan Kumar said that Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar considered education, organisation and self-respect as the foundation of social progress and gave the nation the constitutional ideals of equality, liberty, justice and fraternity.
He said Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji and Sant Kabir Ji also advocated rising above social discrimination and inequality and promoting brotherhood and harmony.
Dr. Krishan Kumar said that the philosophy of Antyodaya propounded by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s principle of equality shared the objective of uplifting the last person in society and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone.
He said the Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was carrying forward these ideals and working for the development of all regions and sections of society without discrimination.
411 Young Achievers Honoured
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini honoured 411 talented young members of the Meghwal community who have distinguished themselves in fields including education, medicine, engineering and sports.
Some of the achievers were presented medals and certificates of appreciation by the Chief Minister on the stage.
Meghwal Utthan Samiti President Ved Prakash and Bhupender Meghwal welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on their arrival.
Former Minister Dr. Banwari Lal, former Minister Chaudhary Jaswant Singh, Safai Karamchari Commission Chairman Krishan Kumar, along with several other dignitaries, were also present on the occasion.
