Officials directed to verify sanitation workers’ attendance and monitor door-to-door waste collection vehicles, tractor-trolleys and field staff between 9 am and 11 am
Gurugram : Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya chaired a virtual review meeting to assess the city’s sanitation arrangements and review the situation arising from the ongoing strike by the sanitation workers’ union. He directed officials to ensure that cleanliness and waste collection services remain uninterrupted and that residents do not face any inconvenience.
The meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioners Yash Jaluka and Ravindra Yadav, along with Joint Commissioners, Senior Sanitation Inspectors and Sanitation Inspectors.
The Municipal Commissioner directed officials to remain in regular contact with Ward Committee members and continuously gather information about sanitation-related issues at the ward level. He stressed that problems reported at the local level should be taken up immediately and resolved through the concerned teams.
Dahiya instructed Joint Commissioners to conduct regular field visits between 9 am and 11 am to monitor the door-to-door waste collection system, the deployment of tractor-trolleys and the availability and functioning of sanitation workers. Officials were also directed to ensure that the manpower and resources assigned for sanitation work are actually present and operational in the field.
Emphasising effective supervision of door-to-door garbage collection, the Municipal Commissioner directed officials to ensure the regular lifting of waste from all secondary collection points and prevent the accumulation of garbage at these locations.
The meeting also focused on mandatory recording and verification of sanitation workers’ attendance. Officials were directed to regularly update records of employees who are present or absent so that the Municipal Corporation has an accurate assessment of the actual workforce available on the ground.
Assistant Sanitation Inspectors were instructed to remain present in the field with the sanitation workers, interact with them directly and monitor the actual status of the work. Dahiya emphasised that officials should not rely solely on paper reports and must conduct physical inspections to assess the ground situation.
The Municipal Commissioner further directed all concerned Joint Commissioners to hold meetings with contractors responsible for sanitation work in their respective areas. The review will cover door-to-door waste collection, the availability of tractor-trolleys and manpower, as well as the regular lifting of waste from secondary collection points.
Dahiya made it clear that citizens should not face any inconvenience due to disruptions in sanitation services. He said regular field monitoring, verification of staff attendance and close supervision of waste collection operations were essential to ensuring the smooth functioning of the city’s sanitation system.
