Srinagar : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has urged U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor to review and withdraw the highest-level U.S. travel advisory against visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on X, Mufti said the travel advisory has a significant impact on Kashmir’s tourism-dependent economy, where thousands of families rely on visitors for their livelihoods.
She said the advisory was “more than a warning” for Kashmir and described it as a barrier between the region and the international community.
Mufti argued that lifting the advisory would send a strong message of confidence, help revive international tourism and provide much-needed relief to families dependent on the tourism sector.
The least the US Ambassador Sergio Gor @USAmbIndia can do is review and withdraw the highest level travel advisory against visiting Kashmir.

Her remarks came as Ambassador Sergio Gor began his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since assuming charge as U.S. Ambassador to India. During the visit, Gor met J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and discussed economic cooperation and opportunities for mutually beneficial engagement.
Following his meeting with Abdullah, Gor indicated that the U.S. travel advisory could be reviewed, saying that travel warnings are periodically reassessed and that the advisory for Jammu and Kashmir “should be downgraded.”
