New Delhi: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability and clean energy development, the Delhi Government witnessed the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for setting up Compressed Biogas (CBG) projects across the national capital.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the august presence of the Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
The initiative is aligned with the Delhi Government’s commitment to ensuring that no cattle dung enters the Yamuna River, thereby contributing significantly to the ongoing efforts for the rejuvenation and cleanliness of the river.
Under this initiative, cattle dung will be scientifically processed to produce Compressed Biogas (CBG), supporting the generation of clean energy while also producing valuable organic manure. The project is expected to strengthen waste management systems, promote sustainable practices, and create additional income opportunities for gaushalas and livestock owners.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, the Delhi Government stated that the project reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards promoting renewable energy, environmental protection, and sustainable urban development.
With this collaboration, Delhi aims to move closer to its goal of becoming a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable capital, while accelerating efforts for the restoration of Maa Yamuna through innovative waste-to-energy solutions.
