New Delhi / Jakarta : India is set to further strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership with Indonesia as Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on an official visit to Indonesia from 6 to 8 July.

Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravarty, said the visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to the bilateral relationship and open up new avenues of cooperation between the two countries. He noted that the engagement will reflect deeper economic collaboration and an expansion of strategic ties across multiple sectors.

Recalling the 2018 elevation of India–Indonesia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the Prime Minister’s earlier visit, the Ambassador highlighted that cooperation has since advanced significantly across several pillars. Among the most notable areas of progress has been defence and security, where both countries have developed robust institutional linkages and regular exchanges.

He further added that defence cooperation is now entering a new phase, including emerging collaboration in defence industry partnerships, reflecting growing trust and convergence between the two maritime nations.

According to the Ambassador, the upcoming visit is expected to intensify engagement across key sectors such as trade, investment, connectivity, and defence, while also strengthening people-to-people ties. The discussions are likely to reinforce the shared vision of India and Indonesia as leading partners in the Indo-Pacific region.

Overall, the visit is seen as an important step toward expanding the scope and depth of India–Indonesia relations, with both sides aiming to unlock new areas of cooperation in the coming years.
