New Delhi : The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 to distinguished nursing personnel on the occasion of International Nurses Day at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday (May 12, 2026).
In her message on the occasion, the President described the event as a tribute to the invaluable contribution of nursing professionals and healthcare workers who serve the nation with compassion, commitment, and unwavering dedication.
She stated that nursing personnel exemplify the highest standards of service and play a vital role in delivering quality healthcare, often under challenging circumstances. Commending the awardees, the President praised their devotion to duty and tireless efforts in ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to recognise the meritorious services rendered by nursing professionals to society.
