Jewar (Uttar Pradesh) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Uttar Pradesh on March 28, 2026, where he will inaugurate the much-anticipated Noida International Airport, marking a major leap in India’s aviation infrastructure development.

As per the official schedule, the Prime Minister will arrive at around 11:30 AM to inspect the state-of-the-art terminal building at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar. At approximately 12 noon, he will formally inaugurate Phase I of the airport and address a large public gathering.

Boost to India’s Aviation Sector and NCR Connectivity

The launch of Noida International Airport is being seen as a transformative milestone in India’s ambition to emerge as a global aviation hub. Strategically planned as a major international gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR), the airport is expected to significantly enhance both domestic and international air connectivity.

This greenfield airport will function as the second international airport for Delhi-NCR, working alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport. Together, the two airports will form an integrated aviation network aimed at reducing congestion, increasing passenger capacity, and strengthening Delhi-NCR’s global connectivity.

Key Features: Investment, Capacity & Infrastructure

Developed with an estimated investment of ₹11,200 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, Noida International Airport is one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects.

  • Initial Capacity: 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA)
  • Future Expansion: Up to 70 MPPA
  • Runway Length: 3,900 meters (suitable for wide-body aircraft)
  • Advanced Systems: Instrument Landing System (ILS) and modern airfield lighting for 24×7 all-weather operations

Cargo Hub & MRO Facility to Boost Logistics

The airport also includes a world-class cargo infrastructure with a Multi-Modal Cargo Hub, integrated cargo terminal, and logistics zones.

  • Cargo Handling Capacity: 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually (expandable to 18 lakh metric tonnes)
  • Dedicated MRO Facility: Spread across 40 acres

This development is expected to significantly strengthen India’s logistics and supply chain ecosystem.

Sustainable and Future-Ready Airport

Designed as an environmentally responsible project, Noida International Airport aims to operate as a net-zero emissions airport, incorporating energy-efficient technologies and sustainable practices.

The architectural design reflects Indian cultural heritage, with elements inspired by traditional ghats and havelis, seamlessly blending modern infrastructure with aesthetic richness.

Strategic Location and Multi-Modal Connectivity

Located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is being developed as a multi-modal transport hub with seamless connectivity through road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems. This will ensure smooth passenger movement and efficient cargo transport across the region.
