No Plan to Reduce 14.2 kg LPG Cylinder Size, Says Petroleum Ministry

New Delhi : The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has dismissed reports claiming that the standard 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder will be reduced to 10 kg, terming them as baseless rumors. The clarification comes amid widespread speculation circulating on various platforms regarding changes in cylinder size.

Responding to the issue, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing & Oil Refineries), stated that such reports are purely speculative and not based on any official decision. She emphasized that no comments can be made on unverified claims and urged the public to avoid believing or spreading misinformation.

The Ministry has advised consumers to rely only on official announcements and not be misled by false reports. It also reiterated that there is currently no proposal under consideration to alter the standard domestic LPG cylinder size.

Officials further appealed to citizens to act responsibly and refrain from circulating unverified information, especially on matters related to essential commodities like cooking gas.
