New Delhi : Following a confidential briefing on the Iran situation, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal expressed concern that the current trajectory of the conflict could eventually lead to the deployment of American troops inside Iran.
Speaking to reporters after the closed-door session, Blumenthal said the briefing had heightened his worries about the direction of the administration’s military strategy. According to him, recent developments suggest the United States could be moving closer to a scenario in which ground forces might be required to achieve potential military objectives.
The senator also pointed out that the long-term plan and ultimate goals of the administration remain unclear. He warned that the absence of a clearly defined strategy could increase the chances of the United States becoming deeply involved in a wider regional conflict.
Blumenthal urged policymakers to carefully assess the risks before taking any steps that could escalate the situation or draw the country into a prolonged war in the Middle East.
