Opposition Creates Ruckus in Lok Sabha, Question Hour Adjourned

New Delhi :  The monsoon session of the Parliament started today. On the very first day of the session, Lok Sabha had to be adjourned due to the ruckus created by the opposition. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla tried repeatedly to convince the opposition MPs to allow the Question Hour to continue . But the opposition was adamant on discussing Operation Sindoor and many other topics . Finally, the Speaker announced the adjournment of the question hour till 12 PM.

The first day of the Parliament session fell prey to the ruckus created by the opposition. However, before starting the Question Hour, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla proposed to pay tribute to the demise of eight former MPs and the House paid tribute to them by observing two minutes of silence. The Speaker also expressed deep grief over the terrorist incidents in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir and also expressed grief over the brutal killing of 26 people. The House unanimously expressed its commitment to India’s zero tolerance policy against terrorism.

A proposal was also made to pay tribute to the 260 people killed in the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also passed away due to flight ctash that day. On this occasion, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha also expressed condolences on behalf of the House on the deaths caused by natural disasters in various states of the country.

On this occasion, the Lok Sabha Speaker, on behalf of the House, congratulated ISRO and Indian astronaut Subhanshu Shukla for their first successful mission and wished him a bright future.

 

 

As soon as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced the start of the Question Hour, the opposition MPs started creating a ruckus. All the opposition MPs came to the Well of the House and started raising slogans and were seen demanding an immediate debate on Operation Sindoor and many other topics adjourning Question Hour. The Lok Sabha Speaker said that the Question Hour on the first day of the session should be allowed to run without any hindrance. This kind of tradition should be started in public interest in which the Members of the Parliament will be able to raise questions on topics related to public problems of their respective areas and issues of national importance and can get answers from the concerned ministers. But the opposition MPs continued to come to the Well of the House and created a ruckus and kept insisting on an immediate debate on Operation Sindoor by raising anti-government slogans.

The Lok Sabha Speaker repeatedly appealed to the opposition MPs, especially Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav, that their MPs should not bring placards to the House. This is against the tradition of the House, he said. Every opposition MP continued to raise slogans. The Lok Sabha Speaker said that the House runs by rules and procedures. He assured the oppisition saying that the government is ready to answer on all topics and debate. The govt is ready but the Question Hour should not be disrupted. He repeatedly told the opposition MPs that if they want to discuss Operation Sindoor, then the government is ready, but the opposition MPs remained adamant on their demand to postpone the Question Hour and discuss Operation Sindoor.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Speaker tried several times to continue the Question Hour. BJP MP Pradeep Purohit, who has come to the Lok Sabha from Odisha, asked the Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, a question on Khelo India policy. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, answered it.

Amidst the noise of the opposition MPs, the Lok Sabha Speaker also called the name of another MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party to ask a question. However, before him, the name of an opposition MP was called, but he did not ask the question.

BJP MP from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, Vijay Kumar Dubey, asked a question to Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, regarding the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Internship in all the states and also in his parliamentary constituency. Harsh Malhotra, citing the policies of the ministry, claimed that the implementation of this scheme in 36 states including Uttar Pradesh is already begain. The opposition MPs continued sloganeering. Finally, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House till 12 PM .
