Gurugram :An important meeting was held in Gurugram today under the Drug Awareness and Health Guidance Scheme 2025, aimed at strengthening collective efforts against drug abuse.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajat Verma expressed deep concern over the increasing drug addiction among youth and adolescents and assured the vendors present that their problems would be heard seriously and necessary solutions would be found.
Drug Control Officer Suresh Kumar gave information about the decoy operations being carried out to control illegal drug sales and told how banned drugs are being sold through online mediums, which requires vigilance to stop.
Deepak Kumar from the Chief Medical Officer’s office gave information about the process of treatment, counseling and rehabilitation of drug addicts. He told how assistance is provided to the victims and their families.
During the meeting, the chemists present prominently raised the problems of illegal sale of medicines through fake online prescriptions and pressure from influential people. They demanded from the administration that they should be given a safe environment so that they can do their work impartially and honestly.
Concluding the meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sushila said that the fight against drug addiction is not only a legal but also a social and moral responsibility. She appealed to everyone to actively participate in this campaign.
At the same time, panel advocate Neha Chaudhary clarified the objectives of the Drug Awareness and Health Guidance Scheme and the roles of all the organizations participating in it. She especially underlined the responsibility of the drug sellers and said that they can play an important role in preventing the misuse of prescription drugs. She said that awareness and vigilance are the most powerful weapons against drug addiction.
At the end of the meeting, all the participants resolved to run an effective campaign against drug addiction through collective cooperation and public awareness under the Drug Awareness and Health Guidance Scheme 2025.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajat Verma, District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram’s panel advocates Neha Chaudhary and Hemant Gupta, Drug Control Officer Suresh Kumar, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sushila from Headquarters, social worker Deepak Kumar from Chief Medical Officer’s office and monitoring officer Dr. Hariraj and members of the Drug Sellers Association of Gurugram were present in the meeting.
