Jain Acharya Lokeshji Meets Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian During BRICS Summit
New Delhi: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is in New Delhi to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit, also met a group of Indian religious leaders, intellectuals and business leaders on Friday evening.
Addressing the gathering, President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the discussions between India and Iran had been positive and expressed hope that the growing relationship would open new avenues for cooperation.
The Iranian President highlighted the potential for India and Iran to work together across a wide range of sectors, including culture, technology, trade, science and the economy. He emphasised the need to revive and strengthen cooperation between the two countries through greater understanding and mutual engagement.
The interaction comes at a time when India and Iran are seeking to further deepen their longstanding civilisational and strategic relationship. Beyond government-to-government engagement, initiatives involving religious leaders, intellectuals and business communities can provide an additional platform for people-to-people connections and cultural diplomacy.
