New Delhi : A 34-member delegation from the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Command and General Staff Course visited India from October 4 to 9, 2026, as part of its Foreign Study Tour, further strengthening defence cooperation and professional military ties between India and Japan.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with representatives of the Indian Army and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The Japanese officers also visited the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) and the Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Programme/Defence Research Centre (WARDEC), gaining valuable insights into India’s defence capabilities, military training systems and emerging technologies.
The programme also included an opportunity for the visiting delegation to experience India’s rich cultural heritage, providing a broader understanding of the country’s traditions and cultural diversity.
The visit underscored the importance of sustained military engagement, professional exchanges and mutual understanding in advancing bilateral defence cooperation. It also reaffirmed the enduring defence partnership between India and Japan, built on shared interests and a commitment to closer strategic collaboration.
