Modi, Putin Highlight Expanding India–Russia Economic Partnership at INNOPROM India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin visited INNOPROM India 2026 in New Delhi, underscoring the growing economic and industrial engagement between India and Russia.

The two leaders interacted with representatives of companies participating in the industrial exhibition, highlighting the expanding scope of business cooperation between the two countries. The event brought together companies from India and Russia and provided a platform to explore new opportunities in investment, manufacturing, technology and industrial partnerships.

INNOPROM India 2026 is being held at Bharat Mandapam from September 9 to 11, bringing together businesses, technology companies, investors and industry representatives. The exhibition is aimed at strengthening direct business-to-business engagement and creating new avenues for technology collaboration and investment.

The event also reflects efforts to broaden India-Russia economic relations beyond traditional areas of cooperation. Key sectors showcased at the exhibition include advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, aviation, space, energy, heavy engineering, mining, steel and financial technologies.

Prime Minister Modi has emphasised the importance of expanding bilateral trade and investment as part of the long-term India-Russia economic partnership. The two countries have set an ambitious objective of taking bilateral trade to US$100 billion by 2030, alongside increased two-way investment.

The presence of the two leaders at INNOPROM India sends a strong signal about the importance attached by both governments to closer industry-to-industry engagement. It also provides Indian and Russian companies with an opportunity to develop joint ventures, technology partnerships, investment projects and new supply-chain linkages.

The exhibition comes at a time when India and Russia are seeking to expand cooperation into emerging and high-technology sectors, including AI, digital technologies, advanced engineering and industrial innovation.

The joint visit by Modi and Putin therefore underlines a broader objective: to transform the longstanding India-Russia strategic relationship into a more diversified economic partnership driven by trade, technology, investment and manufacturing.
