Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Teachers’ Day 2026 outlined a series of measures aimed at strengthening the state’s education system, improving teacher training and expanding opportunities for students.
Addressing the Teachers’ Day-2026 ceremony at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna, organised to mark the birth anniversary of renowned educationist and Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Chief Minister inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp and addressing teachers and students.
Calling teachers the foundation of character-building in society and the nation, Choudhary urged students to focus on acquiring knowledge and skills that can help shape a better future for Bihar.
He said the government would establish a separate university dedicated to teacher training to enhance the professional capabilities of teachers. The state also plans to develop 700 model schools and use modern technology to connect teachers and students with quality educational resources.
The Chief Minister further highlighted plans for comprehensive reforms in the examination and results system, with the objective of making the process more effective and transparent.
According to Choudhary, ongoing improvements in Bihar’s education sector have already contributed to a significant decline in the school dropout rate. He said the government’s broader objective is to ensure that every student gets access to quality education, technical skills and better opportunities to build a successful future.
Key Education Initiatives Announced by the Bihar Government
1. Dedicated Teacher Training University
A Teacher Training University will be established to provide better training and strengthen the capacity and professional development of teachers.
2. Separate Pay Scale for Honorarium-Based Teachers
The government will work towards introducing a separate pay-scale arrangement for honorarium-based teachers, keeping their interests in view.
3. AI and Technology Training for Teachers
Bihar will develop a modern Artificial Intelligence ecosystem in collaboration with technology institutions and companies including Microsoft, Google and Sarvam AI. Teachers will also be trained in emerging AI technologies to equip them for the changing education landscape.
4. Proposed BHU Centre in Bihar
Efforts will be made to establish a centre of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Bihar, aimed at providing students in the state with greater access to higher education opportunities.
5. Clearance of Pending Salaries
The process of releasing pending salaries of teachers associated with Madrasa and Sanskrit Board institutions has been initiated, with the aim of ensuring timely payment of their remuneration.
Extending his greetings to teachers on Teachers’ Day, the Chief Minister said the government remains committed to transforming Bihar’s education system and ensuring that students receive the knowledge, skills and opportunities required to contribute to the state’s future development.
