Patna: Medical education in Bihar is set to expand further with Shri Ram Janaki Medical College and Hospital in Samastipur and Government Medical College, Chhapra (Saran) receiving permission to admit 50 MBBS students each from the 2026–27 academic session.
The approval will add 100 new MBBS seats to the state’s medical education capacity and is expected to strengthen the availability of trained medical professionals while improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.
The move is also significant for students aspiring to pursue medical education, as it will create additional opportunities for young people within Bihar and support the state’s efforts to expand access to quality medical and healthcare services.
Welcoming the development, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda for their support.
The addition of seats at the two institutions marks another step towards strengthening Bihar’s medical education network and building a larger healthcare workforce for the state.
