Chennai : A total of 342 Officer Cadets, including 29 women, were commissioned into the Indian Army at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of SSC-122 and SSC (W)-36 held at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, on September 5, 2026.
Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), reviewed the Passing Out Parade, which marked the culmination of an intensive military training programme.
The parade showcased impeccable drill, smart turnout, high training standards and seamless coordination, reflecting the discipline and preparedness instilled in the officer cadets during their training.
The ceremony also witnessed 17 officer cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFC), including 10 women, successfully completing their training. Their participation highlighted the continuing bonds of friendship, camaraderie and defence cooperation between India and partner nations.
Congratulating the newly commissioned officers and their proud parents, Admiral Krishna Swaminathan described service in the Armed Forces as a singular honour and responsibility. He urged the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, courage and commitment while discharging their duties and serving the nation.
The commissioning ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the young officers as they embark on their careers as leaders in the Indian Army, carrying with them the values of discipline, integrity and service acquired during their rigorous training at OTA Chennai.
