New Delhi/Asheville: Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman held a bilateral meeting with Russia’s Finance Minister H.E. Anton Siluanov on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting in Asheville.
The two ministers reviewed ways to further strengthen India-Russia bilateral economic cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global economic developments, along with matters of common interest in the multilateral arena.
Discussions also focused on cooperation through the New Development Bank (NDB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Both sides explored areas of mutual interest aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and role of the two institutions as multilateral development banks.
The ministers further discussed the proposed establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Development Bank, highlighting the importance of stronger institutional mechanisms for supporting development and economic cooperation.
The meeting underlined India and Russia’s continued engagement on global economic issues and their shared interest in strengthening multilateral financial institutions.
