New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the annual performance and progress of all 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) at DPSU Bhawan in New Delhi, commending their significant contribution to India’s record defence production.
During the review, the Defence Minister called upon the DPSUs to prepare a clear and practical roadmap for the next five years, keeping India’s defence preparedness aligned with the rapidly changing security environment and emerging technological requirements.
Rajnath Singh emphasised the need for DPSUs to continuously strengthen their production capabilities, technological expertise, research and development, innovation and indigenous manufacturing, so that the Armed Forces can increasingly meet their requirements through Indian-made solutions.
The review comes against the backdrop of strong growth in the performance of DPSUs. In FY 2025–26, the 16 DPSUs recorded a combined turnover of around ₹1.29 lakh crore, marking a 15.4% increase over the previous financial year, while their cumulative profit after tax reached ₹23,136 crore, registering a 15.6% rise.
The Defence Minister stressed that the transformation of DPSUs should not be viewed merely from an economic or industrial perspective. He underlined that transforming these organisations is a national security imperative, particularly at a time when warfare and defence technologies are undergoing rapid change.
The government is seeking to position DPSUs as stronger, more technologically capable and globally competitive entities, while advancing the broader objective of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defence.
In essence, the review focused on turning the strong performance of India’s DPSUs into long-term defence capability, technological self-reliance and enhanced national security.
