New Delhi: Following the recent flash floods and mudslides in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China, authorities in the region have established two dedicated 24-hour English-language hotlines to assist families seeking information about foreign nationals who remain unaccounted for.
The information was shared by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as rescue and search operations continue in the Himalayan region following the devastating floods and mudslides. The disaster has affected areas on both sides of the Nepal-Tibet border, with hundreds of people reported missing, including foreign nationals.
Families seeking information about missing foreign nationals in the Tibet Autonomous Region can contact the following numbers:
1. 0086-891-6817165
2. 0086-183-0802-6705
The dedicated helplines are intended to provide families with a direct channel for obtaining information about the whereabouts and status of missing foreign nationals amid ongoing rescue and identification efforts.
The development comes as authorities face challenging conditions in the affected mountainous areas, where floodwaters, mudslides and damaged infrastructure have complicated search and rescue operations. Chinese authorities have reported hundreds of people missing in Tibet, including a significant number of foreign nationals.
The Indian government has also been closely monitoring the situation involving Indian nationals affected by the wider Nepal-Tibet disaster and coordinating assistance through diplomatic and consular channels.
The establishment of dedicated English-language hotlines is expected to provide families with a more accessible mechanism to seek information at a time when rescue teams continue their efforts to trace and assist those still unaccounted for.
