New Delhi : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has called on students and young people from across the country to participate in the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Prayagraj on August 8, saying the event will amplify the voices of India’s youth and demand a better future and a better system.
Inviting students to the gathering, Rahul Gandhi said, “Tomorrow, Prayagraj will hear the Goonj of India’s students and youth. Be part of the movement and stand up for a better future and a better system. Join Chhatron Ki Goonj. Tomorrow, the ‘Echo of Students’ will be heard across the entire country.”
He said he decided to visit Prayagraj after hearing the concerns of students, adding that the country’s education and employment systems have left many young people uncertain about their future.
“Hearing your words, I am coming to Prayagraj. In today’s Hindustan, with the state of education and employment as it is, students have no future. We must change this together. I am coming to Prayagraj to discuss exactly this. You come too. August 8, 5 PM, K.P. Ground, Prayagraj,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Calling Prayagraj one of the country’s biggest centres for competitive exam aspirants, the Congress leader alleged that the current system has become unfair to students.
“I’m heading to Prayagraj, to that city where the largest number of youth prepare for competitive examinations. One thing is clear: every student here knows that the system has turned dishonest. There’s no shortfall in your hard work—the fault lies in the intent of a system that doesn’t reward your efforts,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi further alleged that students have faced repeated setbacks due to paper leaks, delayed recruitment processes, years of waiting for jobs, and a lack of accountability.
Referring to recent student protests, he said, “In Kota, students spoke up; in Dehradun, voices rose again; and in Delhi, these very students were beaten with batons for asking questions. In the end, a minister had to step down. This government bends only when voices rise together.”
Reiterating his appeal, Rahul Gandhi urged students and youth to attend the event, stating that “The system is failing India’s youth. It’s time for a change. Be part of Chhatron Ki Goonj.”
