New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Chief Guest at the 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on August 8, 2026.
Union Minister of Education Pralhad Joshi and NITI Aayog Member Prof. Abhay Karandikar will attend the ceremony as the Guests of Honour.
The Prime Minister will address more than 3,000 graduating students, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as 587 Ph.D. scholars, who will receive their degrees during the convocation.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the event, IIT Delhi Director Prof. Rangan Banerjee said that Prime Minister Modi will confer the institute’s highest honours on outstanding students, including the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and the Perfect Ten Gold Medals.
Prof. Banerjee also announced that the Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate ‘Param Pragya’, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility established at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus. The new facility is expected to significantly enhance the institute’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, advanced computing, scientific research and innovation.
IIT Delhi is one of India’s premier institutions of higher education and is widely recognized for its contributions to scientific research, technological innovation, entrepreneurship and academic excellence. During the convocation, graduating students are expected to receive their degrees in the presence of the Prime Minister and other dignitaries.
