New Delhi : Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan have signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement during the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence held in Makkah on 7 August 2026, International media reported .
According to media eports the agreement was signed by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, following a summit hosted at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
According to the joint statement, the three leaders reviewed bilateral and trilateral relations, regional developments, and issues of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation, collective security, and regional stability.
A key provision of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement states that an armed attack against any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against all three, establishing a new mutual defence commitment among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.
The agreement also aims to enhance cooperation across all areas of defence, strengthen collective deterrence against external aggression, and promote peace, security and stability in the region and beyond. It reflects the three countries’ intention to deepen their long-standing strategic partnership and defence collaboration.
