Chandigarh : Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday accused the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of committing “fraud, deceit and betrayal” against Punjab government employees by allegedly denying them their legitimate rights.
In a statement, Majithia claimed that the state government had failed to honour the rights of employees, particularly with regard to Dearness Allowance (DA).
Referring to a recent Punjab and Haryana High Court order concerning expenditure on government advertisements, Majithia alleged that the ruling reflected the AAP government’s priorities and criticised its handling of employee-related issues.
He said that Dearness Allowance is a basic entitlement linked to employees’ salaries, intended to offset the impact of inflation.
Majithia asserted that every government since Independence has adhered to the principle of revising DA in line with inflation, but alleged that the present Punjab government had failed to do so, forcing employees to struggle for what he described as their rightful dues.
The Shiromani Akali Dal leader urged the state government to ensure that employees receive their legitimate benefits without further delay.
