New Delhi : Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) Praveen Kumar Srivastava called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, for a courtesy meeting on the completion of his tenure.
During the meeting, the Chief Vigilance Commissioner briefed the Minister on the recent accomplishments of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the reforms undertaken to strengthen the country’s vigilance framework.
According to the briefing, sustained institutional reforms, technology-driven governance and continuous monitoring have significantly improved vigilance administration in recent years. As a result, the pendency of disciplinary cases has been reduced from more than 4,000 to nearly 700, reflecting stronger coordination among Ministries, Departments and vigilance authorities.
The Commission has also focused on simplifying and modernising vigilance administration, with increased emphasis on technology-enabled vigilance, including initiatives related to digital governance, fraud prevention in banking and financial institutions, cybersecurity, and the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence.
Among the key initiatives highlighted were:
- Vigilance Status Portal (VSP): Enables end-to-end digital processing of vigilance clearance proposals and is expected to significantly reduce the turnaround time for granting vigilance clearances.
- Revamped Vigilance Case Management System (VCMS): Introduces complete digital processing of vigilance cases while enabling real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making.
The meeting also reviewed the progress made in strengthening transparency, accountability and efficiency in vigilance administration through the adoption of digital technologies.
