Gurugram : District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh has ordered the immediate suspension of Bala Rani, an Anganwadi Worker deployed at Booth No. 104, Molahera, for serious negligence in election-related duties under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the electoral rolls.
The action has been taken in accordance with the Election Commission of India’s directions and the applicable service rules.
According to an order issued by the District Election Office, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Badshahpur Assembly Constituency, reported that during the SIR-2026 exercise, Bala Rani had marked the enumeration forms of two voters as “Uncollectable”, despite the forms having been duly submitted by the concerned voters.
As a result of this lapse, the names of the two voters could not be included in the draft electoral roll.
The ERO’s report recommended departmental action against the Anganwadi Worker for the negligence.
District Election Officer Uttam Singh said that election-related work is a highly sensitive statutory responsibility, and any negligence or dereliction of duty in such assignments will be viewed seriously.
He warned that strict action in accordance with rules will be taken against any officer or employee found guilty of lapses in the discharge of election duties.
