New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday reviewed the progress of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) awareness campaign being conducted across schools in the national capital.

The review meeting focused on assessing the implementation of both initiatives aimed at strengthening the health, safety and well-being of school-going girls in Delhi.

Emphasising the Delhi Government’s commitment to Nari Sashaktikaran (women’s empowerment), the Chief Minister said the government is working on multiple fronts to empower women and girls by ensuring their economic independence, health, safety and overall development.

She said the government’s vision extends beyond financial empowerment to creating a comprehensive support system for women and girls at every stage of life.

Highlighting the government’s flagship initiatives, Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is designed to provide economic assistance and financial security to eligible women, while the HPV vaccination programme seeks to protect young girls against cervical cancer through preventive healthcare.

She added that the POCSO awareness campaign is being implemented in schools to educate students about child safety, legal protections and the importance of reporting abuse, thereby strengthening the protective framework around children, particularly young girls.

“The Delhi Government is acting at every level—from strengthening women’s economic independence to securing the health, safety and future of every daughter,” the Chief Minister said.

She stressed that initiatives such as the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, HPV vaccination, and POCSO awareness programmes together reflect the government’s integrated approach towards building a safer, healthier and more empowered society for women and girls.

Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials from the concerned departments were present during the review meeting and discussed the progress of the ongoing programmes, implementation strategies and measures to ensure their effective execution across schools in Delhi.
