Designed to address the evolving nature of modern warfare, Exercise ROTOR CLAP III focused on improving the effectiveness of helicopter operations in detecting, tracking and responding to hostile unmanned aerial threats in diverse operational scenarios.
According to the Indian Air Force, the exercise provided an opportunity for participating helicopter units to test operational procedures, enhance interoperability and assess the employment of rotary-wing assets in counter-UAS missions under realistic conditions.
The drills also enabled the IAF to evaluate emerging operational concepts and strengthen coordination among helicopter formations while responding to rapidly evolving aerial threats.
With unmanned aerial systems increasingly becoming a key feature of contemporary battlefields, the exercise underscores the Indian Air Force’s continued emphasis on enhancing operational readiness, adopting innovative tactics and building robust capabilities to safeguard India’s airspace against evolving security challenges.
Exercise ROTOR CLAP III forms part of the Indian Air Force’s ongoing efforts to modernise its operational doctrines and ensure its helicopter fleet remains prepared to effectively counter emerging threats in a dynamic security environment.
