New Delhi / Chandigarh : Thousands of farmers from Punjab have started moving towards Delhi to stage a protest against concerns related to the proposed US–India trade deal, as media reported .
In view of the farmers’ march, the Haryana Police has closed the Shambhu Border, a key route connecting Punjab and Haryana. Authorities have installed heavy cement block barricades and deployed JCB machines as part of security arrangements to prevent any disruption.
The farmers are expected to face multiple layers of barricading placed by the Haryana government as they attempt to move towards Delhi.
The protest movement comes amid farmers’ concerns over the possible impact of trade agreements on agriculture, including issues related to market protection, crop prices and the interests of farming communities.
Security has been tightened in border areas, while administrative authorities are monitoring the situation closely to maintain law and order.
