Gurugram : Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living can only be fully realised when every citizen has access to timely, affordable and efficient justice. He said that a strong and transparent justice delivery system is one of the fundamental pillars supporting India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration of the Tower of Justice in Gurugram, the Union Minister said the rule of law remains the strongest foundation of a progressive economy. He noted that India has undertaken significant legal and judicial reforms in recent years to make the justice delivery system more citizen-friendly and efficient.
Highlighting the Centre’s reform initiatives, Rao Inderjit Singh said that since 2014, more than 1,500 obsolete laws have been repealed to simplify the legal framework. He added that legislative measures such as the Jan Vishwas Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have decriminalised several minor offences, helping create a justice system that is more transparent, reliable and technology-driven.
The Minister also referred to the growing use of digital technology in the judiciary, saying that initiatives including the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), e-Filing, Artificial Intelligence-based case management systems, and the expansion of commercial courts are playing a vital role in reducing case pendency and improving the efficiency of judicial proceedings.
Describing the newly inaugurated Tower of Justice as a reflection of these reforms, Rao Inderjit Singh said the modern judicial complex, spread across nearly seven acres and equipped with 55 courtrooms, represents the government’s commitment to strengthening judicial infrastructure and ensuring that justice is delivered without unnecessary delay.
He further observed that as Gurugram continues to establish itself as one of India’s leading economic and commercial centres, the city now possesses judicial infrastructure that matches its growing stature and future requirements. According to the Minister, the Tower of Justice will significantly enhance access to justice while ensuring that the legal system remains responsive to the needs of citizens and businesses alike.
