New Delhi : In a firm articulation of U.S. strategic priorities, US Secretary of State , Marco Rubio emphasized that the United States is not reliant on Venezuelan oil, citing the country’s strong domestic energy capabilities. He made it clear that the issue at hand is not resource dependency, but geopolitical influence.
In his statement Rubio underscored that Washington will strongly oppose any attempt by rival nations to gain a foothold in Venezuela’s oil sector. He specifically pointed to countries like China, Russia, and Iran, questioning their strategic intentions in a region far removed from their own.
Highlighting the importance of regional security, he stressed that the Western Hemisphere holds vital significance for the United States and should not become an arena for external powers to expand their influence. According to Rubio, allowing such involvement would pose a direct challenge to U.S. interests and regional stability.
Reaffirming a proactive stance, he signaled that the United States remains committed to preventing adversarial powers from establishing operational or economic dominance in its immediate geopolitical neighborhood.
