New Delhi : The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has revised the base year of National Accounts to 2022–23 to better reflect the current economic structure, incorporate updated data sources, and align estimation methods with evolving global standards. In line with this, States and Union Territories will also revise the base year for Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to ensure greater accuracy, consistency, and comparability in assessing economic performance over time.

To facilitate this transition and promote uniform compilation practices across regions, the National Statistics Office (NSO), through its National Accounts Division (NAD), is organizing a three-day All-India Workshop on State Income and Related Aggregates with the new base year (2022–23). The workshop will be held from April 8 to 10, 2026, in Visakhapatnam.

The sessions will focus on methodological changes and key issues in compiling GSDP across institutional and industrial sectors. Discussions will also include draft uniform guidelines for the preparation of District Domestic Product (DDP) by States and UTs, aiming to enhance transparency, uniformity, and comparability in regional statistics.

The inaugural session on April 8 will be attended by Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, and Peeyush Kumar, Principal Secretary (Planning), Andhra Pradesh. Around 150 officials from MoSPI and the Directorates of Economics & Statistics across States and UTs are expected to participate in the workshop.
