MCG Clears 40-Year-Old Encroachment in Gurugram, Reclaims 4,000 Sq Yards of Land

Gurugram : In a major anti-encroachment drive, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has reclaimed around 4,000 square yards of government land in the Sukhrali Johad area, which had been under illegal occupation for nearly four decades.

The operation, conducted on Friday under the supervision of Duty Magistrate Yatendra Kumar, was carried out with the support of municipal officials and a strong police presence to maintain law and order. Four JCB machines were deployed to demolish the незаконные structures, ensuring complete clearance of the encroached site.

Officials including JE Ankit Kapoor and Patwari Parveen were part of the operation, which proceeded without major disruption.

Local Leaders Welcome Action

Ward Councillor Anoop Singh appreciated the civic body’s decisive action, thanking Mayor Rajrani Malhotra and Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya for executing a long-pending task. He described the move as a significant step towards restoring public land.

Plans for Beautification Approved

Following the clearance, the administration has shifted focus towards development of the reclaimed area. Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya has approved a budget of approximately ₹1.5 crore for the beautification of the pond.

Senior officials, including Additional Commissioner Ravindra Yadav, XEN (Horticulture) Sandeep, SDO Pawan, and JE Gulshan, are expected to oversee the execution of the project.

Residents Applaud Move

Local residents welcomed the action, expressing relief over the removal of long-standing encroachments. They also urged authorities to continue such drives to ensure better urban planning and public space management in the city.
