Gurugram : A delegation of industrialists led by the Progressive Federation of Trade and Industry (PFTI) met Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) Managing Director Vikram Singh to raise concerns over frequent power outages and the condition of the electricity distribution network in several industrial areas of Gurugram.

The delegation, headed by PFTI Chairman Deepak Maini, highlighted key power supply issues affecting industries across the district and urged the authorities to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity.

According to the delegation, industries in the Bilaspur (Bhaura Kalan subdivision) area are facing frequent outages due to a shortage of staff responsible for maintaining 11 kV feeders. As a result, many industrial units are compelled to rely on diesel generator sets, leading to increased production costs.

They further pointed out that the non-operational status of the 220 kV substation in Sohna has placed an excessive load on the existing 66 kV substation, causing recurring disruptions in power supply. Staff shortages have also affected the maintenance of 11 kV lines in the area.

In Manesar subdivision, the delegation said the 11 kV network continues to experience frequent breakdowns and tripping. The lack of adequate maintenance personnel and the absence of staff to operate maintenance vehicles during night hours were also flagged as major concerns.

Industrial representatives also noted that preventive maintenance of feeders has not yielded the desired results. Despite scheduled shutdowns, breakdowns continue to occur, resulting in significant losses, particularly for industries that depend on uninterrupted operations. They added that in many locations the distribution network has reached the end of its operational life, and urgent replacement of ground switches, poles and conductors is required.

During the meeting, DHBVN Managing Director Vikram Singh directed Chief Engineer V.K. Agarwal to address the issues promptly. He assured the delegation that necessary steps would be taken on priority to ensure reliable and continuous power supply to industrial areas.

PFTI Chairman Deepak Maini assured the department of full cooperation from the industry and emphasised that a lasting solution can be achieved through coordinated efforts between industrial stakeholders and the power distribution authorities.

The meeting was attended by several industry representatives, including Advocate R.L. Sharma, President of Labour Law Advisor Association Gurugram and Director General of PFTI; Ashok Kohli, President of Chamber of Industries, Udyog Vihar; Ratanpal Khatana, President of Sohna–Nuh Industrial Association; Aman Gupta, Vice President of Pioneer Industrial Area, Bilaspur; and General Secretary Kanwar Singh June, along with other industrialists.
