End of an Era : Bollywood Legend Dharmendra Dies at 89

Mumbai / New Delhi :  Veteran Hindi film star Dharmendra passed away on Monday at the age of 89. The legendary actor, who had been battling prolonged illness and respiratory complications, breathed his last earlier in the day. His demise has left fans, colleagues, and admirers across the nation in deep shock.

Condolences poured in from all quarters, with prominent national leaders expressing their grief. The President of India Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned this great loss.

President Droupadi Murmu, in a message on X, wrote: 
“The passing away of veteran actor and former Member of Parliament, Shri Dharmendra ji, is an irreparable loss to Indian cinema. He was one of the most popular actors, delivering many memorable performances in his decades-long illustrious career. As an iconic figure of Indian cinema, he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire younger generations of artists. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the loss, calling it the “end of an era”. In his tribute on X, he said:
“The passing away of Dharmendra ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a formidable actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played. The diverse roles he portrayed touched the hearts of countless people. He was equally known for his simplicity, humility, and love. In this time of grief, my prayers are with his family, friends, and countless fans. Om Shanti.”

Dharmendra, fondly known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, leaves behind an extraordinary cinematic legacy that spans over six decades, shaping the golden era of Hindi cinema. His contributions will continue to be remembered for generations.
