Education Minister reviewed the implementation of NEP 2020 at Gurugram University, interacted directly with teachers

Gurugram :  Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said that the aim of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) is to give students not only bookish knowledge but also vocational skills. He said that education has a big role in realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developed India 2047, and NEP will become a strong foundation in this.

In a meeting held at Gurugram University, the Education Minister reviewed the implementation of NEP 2020 in the university. Vice Chancellor Sanjay Kaushik, Chief Minister’s OSD Raj Nehru, Registrar Sanjay Arora, all Deans and Chairpersons were present in the meeting.

The Education Minister interacted directly with the teachers and took information about the departmental activities. He wanted to know how many students are studying in which department, how they are being guided and motivated, and how they are getting prepared for their career. The minister emphasized that the role of teachers should not be limited to teaching only, but they should contribute to the overall development of students.

Senior officials of the university informed that NEP has been effectively implemented in Gurugram University and all its affiliated colleges. They informed the minister that many initiatives like credit based courses, multiple entry-exit system, skill-based courses, interdisciplinary learning, startups, incubation centers, placements, internships, practical training and career counseling are being worked on.

The minister suggested to the teachers to enter into an agreement with big industries so that students can get professional experience during their studies and they can be prepared directly for jobs. He also said that the higher educational institutions of the state should show seriousness towards the implementation of NEP, so that Haryana can make a place among the leading educational states of the country.

University’s Dean Academic Affairs Professor Neera Verma informed the Education Minister about the efforts being made for the implementation of NEP 2020 through a presentation.

Mahipal Dhanda said that while the central government has set a target of implementing NEP by 2030, the Haryana government is working fast towards fully implementing it by 2025. He also expressed confidence that Haryana will become the first state in the country where NEP will be fully implemented before time.

On this occasion, the minister also gave a message of environmental awareness by planting trees in the university campus.

Vice Chancellor Sanjay Kaushik said that NEP gives institutions, teachers and students an opportunity to showcase innovation and creativity. He informed the minister about the courses running in the new campus of Sector 87 and the buildings under construction.

Chief Minister’s OSD Raj Nehru said that NEP is an important step towards making the country a developed nation. He suggested that universities should meet with industries and develop courses that are as per the requirements of the industries so that students can get direct employment after education.
