Let the opposition bring hired people to protest over the electricity issue, we have no objection– Vij
Whatever Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has said, he has delivered. That’s why ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’ – Vij
Chandigarh : Haryana’s Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij said today that “We never said we would provide electricity for free, and the opposition is lying about this.” He said that a slight increase in electricity tariffs has occurred after ten years, during which time inflation and input costs for electricity generation have increased significantly.
He reiterated his support for Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, stating that “whatever Modi ji has said, he has done. That’s why ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai.’” Regarding concerns about Hindutva being under threat in Bengal, he cited the famous lines and said that ‘kuchh baat hai ki hastee, mitatee nahin hamaaree. sadiyon raha hai dushman, daur-e-zamaan hamaara’’..
Sh.Vij was responding to questions asked by media personnel in Chandigarh regarding protests by the opposition over the recent increase in electricity tariffs.
Monthly electricity bills for domestic consumers using up to 2 kilowatts have reduced by 49% to 75% compared to 2014–2015 – Vij
The Energy Minister said that electricity bills for domestic consumers with up to 2 kW connected load have decreased by 49% to 75% compared to 2014–15. Most consumers in Category-2 have also seen a reduction in their bills. Around 94% of all electricity consumers fall under Category-1 and Category-2, where most bills have decreased. He shared that in Haryana, fixed charges for domestic consumers range from Rs.0 to Rs.75/kW, and the maximum energy slab remains capped at Rs.7.50/unit, whereas in neighboring states, fixed charges go up to Rs.110/kW and energy charges up to Rs.8/unit.
Minimum Monthly Charges (MMC) have been removed for all domestic consumers – Vij
Shri Vij informed that, under the revised electricity tariff structure, the Minimum Monthly Charges (MMC) have been removed for all domestic categories, as Haryana’s Discoms are committed to providing continuous, uninterrupted, affordable and consumer-focused electricity services. He added that Haryana charges much lower tariffs for both LT (Low Tension) and HT (High Tension) categories compared to neighboring states. From FY 2014–15 to FY 2024–25, the AT&C losses (Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses) have come down from 29% to 10%, he asserted.
Agricultural consumers continue to receive electricity at old subsidized rates – Vij
He emphasized that agricultural consumers in Haryana still pay only Rs.0.10/unit (metered) or Rs.15/BHP/month (flat rate). MMC for metered connections has been reduced to Rs. 180 (up to 15 BHP) and Rs.144 (above 15 BHP). For Category-2 consumers (up to 5 kW), bills have increased by 3% to 9% compared to FY 2024–25. However, compared to FY 2014–15, most in this category still see lower bills, with less than 1% increase in a few slabs.
Let the opposition bring hired people to protest over the electricity issue, we have no objection– Vij
He said that About 94% of domestic consumers fall under Category-1 and 2, while only 6% are in Category-3, where the hike is 5% to 7% compared to FY 2024–25. Due to lower consumption in this category, the percentage hike may seem higher. Sh. Vij said, “The job of opposition parties is to speak, and they may do so, we welcome that. Protests are part of opposition work. But in the Assembly, we see they don’t even discuss things among themselves and instead bring hired people to protest – we have no objection to that.”
Under PM Modi’s leadership, Operation Sindoor blew Pakistan apart – Vij
In response to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s comment that PM Modi’s promises are false, Sh. Vij countered that “Modi ji has done what he promised. He abrogated Article 370, abolished triple talaq, facilitated the Ram Mandir, fulfilled the promise of providing homes for the poor and ensured free food grain for 80 crore people.” He added that “the world has witnessed Modi ji’s impact recently. The opposition is blind to the fact that under Modi’s leadership, ‘Operation Sindoor’ devastated Pakistan.” He said that “Modi hai to mumkin hai”.
Communal and caste-based politics in Bengal is against our Constitution – Vij
In response to a question on Hindutva being under threat in Bengal, Sh. Vij expressed concern that “it is extremely unfortunate that those who form governments by taking an oath on the Constitution are not treating citizens equally.” He said that “The kind of casteist and communal politics happening in Bengal is not permitted by our Constitution.” He said the quote that “kuchh baat hai ki hastee, mitatee nahin hamaaree. sadiyon raha hai dushman, daur-e-zamaan hamaara’’..
