Nomination for Panchayat by-election Begins today, Last date May 30 : District Election Officer

  • By-elections will be conducted in 17 panchayats of the district on June 15 from 8 am to 6 pm

Gurugram : As per the instructions of the Haryana State Election Commission, the nomination process for by-elections in 17 panchayats of the district has started from today, which will continue till May 30 (except Sunday, May 25 and gazetted holiday on May 29). Interested candidates will be able to fill their nominations during the said period from 10 am to 3 pm.

District Election Officer and DC Ajay Kumar, while giving the above information, said that for the successful and smooth conduct of the upcoming Panchayat by-elections in the district, Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have been appointed in the respective areas. These officers have been entrusted with the complete responsibility of monitoring all the stages of the election process, scrutiny of nomination papers, counting of votes and declaration of results. The appointed officers have been directed to ensure full compliance of the guidelines laid down by the Commission. He informed that after the nomination process, the candidates who want to withdraw their nomination can inform their respective Returning Officer under the prescribed procedure by 3 pm on June 2. He informed that the election symbols will be allotted to the remaining candidates in the final list after 3 pm on the same day.

The District Election Officer informed that these by-elections in the district will be conducted on June 15. The State Election Commission has fixed the time for voting from 8 am to 6 pm. The DC informed that after the completion of the voting process and counting of votes, the result of the election will be declared at the polling station itself. He informed that if repoll is conducted under any circumstances, the Commission has fixed the date of June 17 for voting and declaration of results. The DC said that all necessary preparations are being made by the administration to maintain transparency and fairness of the election process in the district.
