Gurugram : The Haryana government is working seriously to provide relief to the citizens from the problem of waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon season in Gurugram. In this sequence, Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh on Saturday visited various areas of the city along with senior officials of Municipal Corporation Gurugram and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and inspected the drainage system.

It is worth noting that to deal with the waterlogging situation in the city, the Environment Minister is constantly reviewing all the necessary arrangements being made by holding meetings with the concerned officials and is also personally visiting the field to take stock of them. The Cabinet Minister had inspected various identified points earlier this month and given necessary instructions to the concerned officials.

In his visit today, the Environment Minister reviewed the current cleaning status of drains, drainage management, and identified areas of potential waterlogging in IDC, Mehrauli Road, Sector 17, Dundahera, Ansal Plaza, C2, Palam Vihar, Choma, Bajghera, Dharampur, Dhankot, Sector 102, Basai, Basai Talab, Mohammadpur Jharssa and Kherki Daula areas and reviewed the emergency measures there. He instructed the officials to ensure timely cleaning of all drains and also to carry out their repair or widening work promptly as per the need.

Rao Narbir Singh said that any kind of negligence in pre-monsoon preparations will not be tolerated. He said that Gurugram is an important economic and urban center. The civic amenities here are our priority. This time our effort is to ensure that the city dwellers remain completely free from problems like waterlogging. To achieve these goals, coordinated efforts are being made by the administration to solve the problems of the citizens on priority.

During the inspection, GMDA and corporation officials informed the Environment Minister about the preparations made so far. Officials said that the work of cleaning the major drainage lines is going on uninterrupted and pumping stations and motors are also being deployed in waterlogging prone areas.

On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Gurugram Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, Additional Municipal Commissioner YS Gupta, Joint Commissioners Sumit Kumar, Vishal Kumar, Akhilesh Yadav and Dr. Jaiveer Yadav, GMDA Joint CEO Suman Bhakar, Chief Engineer Arun Dhankhar, Corporation Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, SE Sudhir Ransiwal, Executive Engineer Vikram Singh, Sanjeev Gupta, Praveen Raghav and Sachin Yadav along with other officials were present.
