Gurugram : Women and Child Development Department organize an important workshop in Gurugram district today. The objective of this workshop was to bring about a change in the thinking of the society to stop female foeticide.
In the workshop, experts like Sanchita Sharma, Dr. Puneet Grewal, Mriganka and Nitesh Sharma presented their views and said that to stop female foeticide, the society will have to change at the mental level. For this, special attention needs to be paid to 8 main points, which include topics like awareness, reporting system, community participation and government cooperation.
Women sarpanches of Gurugram district actively participated in the workshop. They were informed about their role as brand ambassadors of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme. It was told that they should organize at least two programs every month, organize community functions on the birth of daughters, and identify out-of-school girls and educate them.
In particular, an appeal was made to effectively implement the system of giving information on ‘104 helpline’ so that incidents like female foeticide can be reported immediately.
PNDT nodal officers from the state level participated in the program and all the officers including Anupama Wadhwa (District Coordinator), Supriya (Supervisor) were present from the department’s side. In the end, all the attendees took the oath of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and pledged to protect and empower daughters in the society.
