New Delhi, April 9 : Expressing confidence in Haryana Government’s ease of doing business system, Dubai-based renowned Sharaf Group of Companies is to launch its third major project in the logistics and retail sector in the state. The project to be set up in Rewari will not only boost business activities in the region but will also provide employment opportunities to the local youth.

Major General Sharafuddin Sharaf, Founder of Sharaf Group of Companies and Chairman of UAE-India Business Council met Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini at Sant Kabir Kutir here today and expressed keen interest in expanding his company in Haryana.

During the meeting, he also invited the Chief Minister to inaugurate a new project at Dhirpur village in Kurukshetra district. The company has already set up a project in district Palwal. He assured the Chief Minister that with the assistance of the Foreign Cooperation Department of Haryana, Sharaf Group will support the skilled youth of Haryana in securing employment opportunities in Dubai and other countries where their company is located.

Advisor, Department of Foreign Cooperation, Haryana, Pawan Chaudhary and Captains Ashwani Nair and Shashi Gupta from Hind Terminals Pvt Ltd were also present in the meeting.

Dedicated Foreign Cooperation Department in Haryana to assist foreign trade requirements

Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini assured Major General Sharafuddin Sharaf of the State Government’s full support and cooperation for setting up units of Sharaf Group of Companies in Haryana. He highlighted that the State has a dedicated Foreign Cooperation Department to assist foreign trade requirements. The Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government has implemented several reforms to enhance the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) in the State. These reforms include the introduction of a single window clearance system, relaxation in labour laws, and speeding up of environmental clearance processes. As a result, Haryana has become a preferred destination for both national and international companies.

Sharaf Group investing in India through its subsidiary Hind Terminals Private Limited

Major General Sharafuddin Sharaf told the Chief Minister that Sharaf Group is investing in India through its subsidiary Hind Terminals Private Limited. Sharaf Group (headquartered in Dubai) operates in various sectors including shipping, logistics, supply chain management, information technology, retail and travel and tourism in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent. Hind Terminals Private Limited (HTPL), an Indian subsidiary, operates in various sectors such as multi-modal agro logistics parks, rail-road transportation, third-party logistics, setting up and operating inland container depots and preservation of fresh produce in the form of cold chain.

HTPL to invest at least Rs 1,000 crore in the next two to three years

The Chief Minister was apprised that HTPL has already invested over Rs 2,500 crore in development of rail operations and inland container depots/multimodal logistics parks in India. The company’s expansion plans, which include development of new facilities and upgradation of existing facilities across the country, will require additional investment of at least Rs 1,000 crore in the next two to three years. The current projects are providing direct employment to about 300 people and indirect employment to about 2,000 people. The upcoming projects are likely to generate direct employment to about 200 people and indirect employment to about 1,000 people .
