New Delhi : Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah speaking on the Wakf Board Amendment Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha, today clarified that this Bill will be a law passed by the Parliament of India, and it has to be followed by all. He clarified many confusions and replied questions raised by the opposition MPs during the discussion in the parliament. He said that no non Muslim will be appointed as Mutavally. Non Muslim members will be appointed only to monitor and administer the property and assets of the Wakf Board and to ensure and serve the purpose of minority community for which they donate their land.

Union Home Minister also clarified that Wakf  word belongs to Arabi language that means donation of land in the name of Allah. It has very purpose of charitable endowment, religious purpose with no return. He said that keeping in view these reality, only Muslim religion practicing person can donate land for Wakf Board.

During the discussion on the Waqf Bill in Parliament, Union Home Minister Amitsh Shah answered all the questions of the opposition one by one. He said that Waqf is defined as a charitable trust, where people donate land for Waqf. He clarified that government property cannot be donated and donation can be made only of the land that is owned by the person. Amit Shah said that opposition parties are trying to break the country. Those who do wrong in Waqf will be caught. He also alleged that money is being stolen in Waqf and there are many examples of this. He told that during the elections in 2014, railway land was declared in the name of Waqf and villages were also occupied by Waqf. Apart from this, Waqf also occupied the land of a 1500-year-old temple in Tamil Nadu.

The Home Minister said that the Waqf Act and Board came into force in 1995. Regarding the inclusion of non-Muslims, he said that non-Muslims will have no role in religious matters. No non-Muslim will come into Waqf. There is no provision to include any non-Muslim among those who manage religious institutions. We do not want to do this. It is a very wrong notion that this Act will interfere in the religious conduct of Muslims and interfere in the property donated by them. This wrong notion is being spread to create fear among minorities for their vote bank.

The Home Minister said that some people are raising questions as to why the Collector has been given the authority. Tell me, in our country, when a temple needs to acquire land, who decides the ownership of the land? Everyone knows that the Collector decides. The Revenue Officer is responsible for such matters. So, if the question is whether a piece of land belongs to Waqf or not, why should the Collector not confirm it? What is the objection in this?

He said that this is the law of the Parliament and everyone has to accept it. He also said that there was a scam in the land of Wakf Board. Statistics show that from 1913 to 2013, Wakf Board had 18 lakh acres of land, which has increased to 39 lakh acres from 2013 to 2025. This increase has happened after 2013, but the question is with whose permission this land was sold. Amit Shah also said that churches of Kerala and the country have supported this bill.
