De-addiction campaign will be highlighted through cyclothon : DC

Gurugram, March 21 : Under the drug-free campaign, a cyclothon will be organized from April 5 to April 27 in the entire state including Gurugram with the aim of encouraging the general public towards a healthy lifestyle. Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini will flag off this state-level campaign from Hisar on April 5 and it will conclude in Sirsa on April 27. DC Ajay Kumar gave this information on Friday during a meeting with officials of various departments in the conference hall located at the Mini Secretariat. He said that under the campaign, various types of activities will be organized along with cyclothon i.e. bicycle rally to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs in the district, for which an activity calendar has been prepared.

 

Earlier, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Gupta, while giving detailed information about the activities to be organized in the districts of the state under the Drug-Free Haryana campaign through video conferencing, gave necessary guidelines to the DC and police officers of all the districts of the state.

 

DC Ajay Kumar, while giving directions to the officials of the departments associated with the event, said that as per the activity calendar, special cooperation of voluntary organizations, social organizations and organizations related to this field will also be taken in the cyclothon. He told the officials of the education department that since the youth will have an important role in this entire campaign, participation of students of colleges, polytechnic colleges etc. will also be ensured in the cyclothon.

 

The DC said that cultural programs related to this subject will also be organized to make people aware about de-addiction. He said that the main theme of the cyclothon is to make people aware of the ill effects of drugs, hence a unique strategy will be planned in collaboration with the Chemist Association in drug prone areas for a strong campaign against the sale and use of drugs. He said that after the cyclothon, the participants will also be administered an oath to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy lifestyle.

 

SDM Gurugram Paramjit Chahal, CTM Ravindra Kumar, Deputy CMO Dr. Keshav Sharma, Haryana CSR Trust Additional CEO Gaurav Singh and top police officials were present in the meeting.
