New Delhi/ Birmingham, UK: Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, a 2017-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has joined the Consulate General of India in Birmingham, taking up a new diplomatic assignment in the United Kingdom.
Tiwari brings experience in both multilateral and bilateral diplomacy. Prior to his current assignment, he worked with the BIMSTEC Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, handling India’s engagement with BIMSTEC member countries. He also represented India at the 6th BIMSTEC Permanent Working Committee Meeting in Bangkok.
He subsequently served at the Embassy of India in Stockholm, Sweden, where he worked as First Secretary (Political) and was involved in advancing India’s bilateral engagement with Sweden.
Tiwari announced his new assignment in Birmingham with a message expressing his pride in serving the nation with dedication and commitment.
His posting comes as India and the UK continue to strengthen cooperation across trade, investment, technology, education, security and people-to-people ties, while the Consulate in Birmingham plays an important role in engagement with the Indian community in the region.
