Siliguri, West Bengal: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended a programme at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Frontier Headquarters in the Ranidanga area of Siliguri, where he praised the state government’s decision to provide land for strengthening security along the India-Bangladesh border.
Mr Shah lauded Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for facilitating the handover of 1,129 acres of land to the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for the construction of border fencing.
Highlighting the speed of the decision, the Home Minister said the land was handed over within 45 days of the new government coming to power. He noted that the demand for land required for erecting the border fence had remained pending since 2014.
Mr Shah’s remarks underscored the government’s focus on accelerating border infrastructure and strengthening security along the sensitive India-Bangladesh frontier in West Bengal.
