The initiative, titled ‘Tere Mere Sapne – Pre-Marital Communication Centre’, has been launched by the NCW to promote meaningful dialogue, mutual understanding and informed decision-making among young people preparing for marriage.
Focus on Communication Before Marriage
According to the advisory, rapidly changing social circumstances have contributed to marital disputes arising from inadequate discussion and understanding of important issues before marriage. These include expectations from married life, career plans, family responsibilities, financial management, personal values and emotional well-being.
The Commission believes that open and informed communication before marriage can help couples establish the foundation for healthy, stable and respectful relationships.
Under the initiative, young people planning to marry can register through the NCW Pre-Marital Communication Centre portal and participate in structured online communication and counselling sessions conducted by qualified experts.
The platform is intended to provide a safe and confidential environment where prospective couples can discuss important aspects of married life openly and receive professional guidance to build stronger relationships.
Matrimonial Platforms Urged to Promote Initiative
Recognising the significant role played by matrimonial websites and agencies in connecting prospective couples, the NCW has advised such platforms to provide information about the ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ initiative to their registered users and young people planning marriage.
Matrimonial platforms and agencies have also been encouraged to promote the initiative through their websites, mobile applications, social media platforms and offices, including by displaying relevant banners, links and awareness material.
The Commission has further appealed to these platforms to promote the importance of communication, mutual respect, equality, emotional well-being and shared responsibilities within marriage.
They have also been encouraged to help disseminate information about the online counselling and communication facilities available through the NCW platform.
Initiative Aims to Promote Informed Decisions
The NCW has expressed confidence that meaningful pre-marital communication and informed decision-making can help reduce misunderstandings, strengthen mutual understanding and contribute to stable and harmonious family relationships.
The Commission has urged all matrimonial websites and related organisations to support the initiative and encourage young people planning marriage to make use of the online communication and counselling services available through the NCW platform.
