Geneva: In a vibrant symbol of India’s commitment to multilateralism and its enduring partnership with the United Nations, Arindam Bagchi, Permanent Representative of India to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva, presented five Indian Peacocks (Pavo cristatus), the National Bird of India, in UN colours to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
The symbolic gift adds to the biodiversity and cultural symbolism of UN Geneva, while highlighting India’s rich natural heritage and its close association with the United Nations.
The five peacock representations celebrate India’s rich natural heritage, reflect the country’s enduring partnership with the United Nations, and underscore its steadfast commitment to multilateralism.
